Professor Emmanuelle Marquis is currently Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan and holds a joint appointment with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. She received her PhD from Northwestern University and her M.S. degree from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris, France. She worked at Sandia National Laboratory in Livermore, CA and at Oxford University in the UK prior to joining the University of Michigan in 2011. Her research interests are in understanding mechanisms of microstructure evolution, including phase transformations, irradiation effects, and oxidation, using experimental multi-scale characterization techniques. She was awarded a career award from the National Science Foundation, the K.F.J. Heinrich Award from the Micro-Analysis Society, and the Brimacombe Medal from TMS, and is a fellow of the International Field Emission Society.
